The Academy of Natural Sciences was founded in 1812 and is the oldest natural science research institution and museum in the Americas. Their mission is “the encouragement and cultivation of the sciences.” Located in the heart of Philadelphia’s cultural district, the Academy is known for its scientific research, collections, exhibitions and educational programs.

The Academy hosts several traveling exhibits each year or creates its own exhibits.

Their permanent exhibits include: Dinosaur Hall, Butterfiles! Outside In, and the Live Animal Center.

Monday-Friday: 10 a.m.– 4:30 p.m.; Saturdays, Sundays, and Holidays: 10 a.m.– 5 p.m.

Hours:
