About: Appalachian Trail Museum![]() Situated about 2 miles from the actual midpoint of the Appalachian Trail, the museum is inside a 200 year old Grist Mill across the road from the Pine Grove general store. The general store is home to a thru-hiker tradition: Attempting to eat a half gallon of ice cream in one sitting. Current exhibits include a trail shelter, artifacts from along the trail, and a computer that displays (at this time) more than 12,000 photos from thru-hiker journeys. There is also a children's discovery area and hiker welcoming areas both inside and outside. Hours: Noon to 4pm. Spring and Fall on Weekends Only. Memorial Day to Labor Day open every day.
