About: Crystal Cave in 1871, Crystal Caves was discovered in the hillside of ... farmland while his son and an assistant were mining limestone. The cave was carefully protected and by 1872, the cave had railings and steps built, a cave tour put together, and the public could tour the caves for 25 cents. Now, an 8 minute presentation and a 45 minute in-cave tour is the main attraction at Crystal Caves. The caves are underground, so bring cool weather type gear, even in the summer. The caves maintain a constant temperature. Quite a bit of information is available on the website, so please check that out before planning your trip. In addition to the caves, there is a miniature golf course with a cave theme and a rock shop featuring all types of crystals.
