Maurice K. Goddard State Park is 2,856-acres and features the 1,860-acre Lake Wilhelm, which is very popular with anglers. Many recreational activities attract visitors in all seasons. The large lake, abundant wetlands, old fields and mature forests provide a diversity of habitats for wildlife, especially waterfowl, eagles and ospreys.

Lake Wilhelm has an accessible fishing pier. For boaters, a mooring area is available from May 1 to October 31. Boat rentals including pontoon boats, row boats, motorboats, kayaks and canoes are also available and open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. from May 1 through Labor Day.

Bicyclers can follow a twelve-mile paved trail that traces the shoreline.

A popular winter activity is cross-country skiing: there are eight miles of trails marked for cross-country skiing for beginner to expert skiers. Other winter activities include ice fishing, iceboating, ice skating tobogganing, and snowmobiling.
