About: Strasburg Rail Road
Experience PA Dutch Country At the Strasburg Rail Road

Welcome to the Strasburg Rail Road one of Pennsylvania’s most popular tourist attractions and America’s oldest short-line railroad. Relax aboard an authentically restored passenger car as a mighty coal-burning locomotive steams through Lancaster County’s beautiful countryside on a round trip to the town of Paradise and back.

Your 45-minute journey begins on the platform of the East Strasburg Station, circa 1915. Travel past real working farms and the Amish who call this land home. See cornfields, pumpkin patches and beans, wheat and barley growing in the fields.

Keep your engine going with more fun back at the station. Pint-sized passengers have a ball with The Cranky Cars. Six hand-propelled cars, which date back to the 1930’s, allow little ones to take control as they crank their way around a track. The authentic pump car lets you test your own power as you move down the track.

The Strasburg Rail Road is one of just a few places were passenger can ride behind a Cagney locomotive. The miniature steam engine is just a fraction of the size of a traditional locomotive, but musters up plenty of might to pull its load around the track.

For those who want to go totally train, tour our Mechanical Shop, President’s Car, Switch Tower and the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania. One thing is for sure - no matter where you spend your time – the fun will continue until you run out of steam.
